We will explore the world through our vacation travels. On this first occasion it’s the turn for the State of New York in the United States.
With its capital in Albany, the State of New York is perhaps the most popular of the 50 states in the country. Absolute financial and commercial center of the United States, it’s also the main industrial and tourist center.

The most populous city is New York City in the south of the state, followed by others such as Albany, Binghamton, Buffalo, Ithaca, Rochester and Syracuse. In total, 62 counties who go from urban to rural.
Not everything in the state is that awesome metropolis (the City of New York). Something that isn’t very known is the state of New York is an important agricultural and livestock center (the 5th in the country, in fact). Approximately a quarter of the state is covered with farms and they also have those spectacular Woodstock and Sullivan County forests.
Of course, once in New York, the visitor must go to the main touristic places
Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Natural History and the New York Zoo... You can not miss the opportunity to visit others lesser known but equally impressive places (The Cloisters, West Village, Upper West Side, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Grand Central Station...)
Another of the most touristic places in the state are undoubtedly Niagara Falls. Beside the big city there are also the Allegheny Plateau, the Catskill Mountains and the Appalachian Trail, all of great tourist and ecological interest.
In that rural New York there are places you can not miss such as the Capitol of Albany, the Cutler Botanical Garden in Binghamton, the beautiful building of the city hall of Buffalo, the Cascade of the Buttermilk Falls State Park, the Cornell University in Ithaca , the Highland Park of Rochester, the Philipse Manor House in Yonkers.
With more than 19 million inhabitants, it’s the third most populated state - behind California and Texas. It was admitted to the Union of American States on July 26th, 1788, as the 11th state.
It is the largest financial and commercial center in the United States, as well as its largest industrial center.
The motto of the state is "Excelsior," a Latin word meaning "always on top" or "higher still."
New York was originally colonized by the Dutch who named the region New Netherlands (Nieuw-Nederland). They also founded a settlement on the island of Manhattan and they named it New Amsterdam.
When England captured the state from the Dutches, the Englishes renamed "New York" both the region and the city located in Manhattan.
New York was one of the thirteen British colonies that rebelled in the War of Independence of the United States. In this state 35% of all the battles of the war took place.
The rest of the State of New York extends to the north from the city of skyscrapers, with which it has nothing in common, except the governor.
This incongruity is a blessing for those who enjoy the same way climbing the mountains and visiting natural parks, as going to bars on the Lower East Side. The state of New York has it all...
