We celebrate the victory of France in the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia was the twenty-first edition of Men's Football World Cup organized by FIFA. This edition of the event was held between June 14th and July 15th 2018 in Russia, which won the organizing rights on December 2nd 2010.

This is the eleventh World Championship held on the European continent, and the first to be held in Eastern Europe. Also for the first time, the tournament takes place on two continents: Europe and Asia, given the location of the host cities.

With an estimated cost of more than 14,200 million dollars, it’s the most expensive World Cup in history. On the other hand, it’s the first time that the Video Assistant Referee (or VAR) was used and an official ball with a built-in chip.

The champion in this edition is the French team or "Les Bleus", who was consecrated for the second time in history, 20 years after winning their first World Cup when they were the hosts in 1998.

Also, for the national teams of Panama and Iceland, it was their first participation in the history of the World Cups.

We talk about the most important football competition in the world.

Even though the Russian team made us dream about their great exploits during the tournament. Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal touched us. Peru made us vibrate with hope.

Iceland won our hearts. Mexico surprised the whole world with their excellent way of playing football. England reminded us they invented football and they are made for great achievements. And Japan impressed us with their order in the game.

Despite all this, only two teams could reach the grand final. Croatia was the surprise by reaching the final. And France left us amazed with their great way of playing.

As head of Group C, France won 2-1 against Australia, 1-0 against Peru and drew 0-0 with Denmark.

With 7 points they qualified as first of their group to the Round of 16 where they faced Argentina who had hardly qualified.

The match against Argentina was not easy, but the French won it 4-3 in a spectacular game. Thus they qualified to the Quarters of finals against Uruguay.

Uruguay fell 2-0 against the French power and that's how they advanced to the semi-finals against Belgium.

The Belgians came into a match as big favorites thanks to the great performance they had throughout the tournament, but with a Umtiti’s goal the French moved on to their third World Cup final by defeating Belgium 1-0.

The Grand Final was played on Sunday, July 15th 2018 in Moscow at the Luzhniki Olympic Stadium, known as the Central Lenin Stadium during the Soviet Union.

Its total capacity is 81,500 spectators. The stadium is mainly used for football matches of the Moscow Spartak.

After a closing ceremony where was sang the official theme of the World Cup: "Live it up" by Nicky Jam, Era Istrefi and Will Smith with an army of dancers. The kick off whistle was given...

Croatia started pressing from the first minute of the match. They knew beating France would not be easy and they had to try to take advantage first.

After a couple of Croatian plays with danger of goal who ended without scoring, it shows up to France their first opportunity in the match. Griezmann in a free kick scored the 1-0 at minute 17 of the first half.

That first goal was actually an own goal by Mario Mandzukic. But Croatia reacted tying at minute 27 with a goal scored by Ivan Perisic.

It was crazy. The stadium rumbled with both goals. The score was 1-1 before halftime.

Just 10 minutes after Croatia's tied the match score, Perisic in a corner kicks used his hand to deflect the ball and avoid a French goal. The Blues claimed the play to the referee who was receiving the opinion from the VAR Room. So he decided to review the play himself and in the end he set a penalty in France favor.

In a very cold and precise way, Antoinne Griezmann scored France's second goal at minute 37. They were 2-1 now.

After halftime, Croatia kept attacking again and again without success. Until Pogba scored a goal at minute 58 surprisingly for the 3-1 for France.

Finally at the 64th minute Kylian Mbappé scored the 4-1 with what sealed the impressive victory of the French team. Vive la France!

At minute 68 a mistake by French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris gave the second goal to the Croatians, which made them keep fighting until the end of regulation, but it was too late.

France wins their second FIFA World Cup in the history. They add a second star to the Rooster Shield of French Football Federation. And they returned home after having marveled all of us with their way of playing. They are definitely the best national team of this World Cup. Congratulations, guys!

Celebration in the dressing rooms and in public squares in France were out of mind. Fans received them as heroes upon their arrival to Paris.
